Transdem ( layer name section ) and TS12 (Build 57825)

#1 Post by Belgian46 »

Hello,

1) When I use Transdem and do the following

a) Create a new map with dem elevation ...
b) create UTM tile objects and adds then to the map ...
c) create track spline from route vector data and adds them to map ...
d) import the content in TS12 SP 1 + hotfix ( = build 57825 )
e) Open Cm 3.7 ( TS12 SP 1 + hotfix ), I see that the build version of the route = 3.4 - no problem with that :D

2) When I create a route in TS 12 SP 1 + hotfix ( = build 57825 )

a) in content manager 3.7 I see that the build version of the route = 3.7
b) When I open the route for editing and want to create track spline from route vector data and adds them to map,

in the export destination - layer name section - the layers ( route layer - Transdem-UTM and Transdem Vector ) are not visible ( not accessible )

3) When I have imported - for example a 3.3 build version route into TS12 ( build 57825 ) and

a)open the route for editing in TS12 ( build 57825 )
b) add some changes to the route
c) save the route to another name - in content manager the route with the new name has build version 3.7

d) when I open the original route ( build version 3.3 ) in Content manager, then the layers ( in Transdem ) in the layer name section are visible and accessible

e) when I open the newly saved route ( build version 3.7 ) in content manager, then the layers ( in Transdem ) in the layer name section are again not visible ( not accessible ).

Am I doing something wrong? :?

Best regards

It appears that N3V is halfway to the next full Trainz version. With SP1 they have introduced a new version of the .gnd file format which at the moment is unknown to TransDEM (and me. And I haven't even looked at the other route files yet). This means TransDEM 2.3 may not be able to process a route exported by the latest TS12 CM. This is the same story as with most previous Trainz versions, but it usually doesn't happen within the lifetime of a single version. (SPs for TRS2004 and TS2009 had similar effects, though.)

The classic forward approach, letting TransDEM create all layers in one go, before importing with CM, should still work (as it did in all similar version conflicts before).

Hello Roland,

Thank you for your explanation.

1) Transdem functions perfectly :D when I use the method

a) Create a new map with dem elevation ...
b) create UTM tile objects and adds then to the map ...
c) create track spline from route vector data and adds them to map ...
d) import the content in TS12 SP 1 + hotfix ( = build 57825 )

2) When I create a route in TS 12 SP 1 + hotfix ( = build 57825 )

a) in content manager 3.7 I see that the build version of the route = 3.7
b) When I open the route for editing and want to create track spline from route vector data and adds them to map,

in the export destination - layer name section - the layers ( route layer - Transdem-UTM and Transdem Vector ) are not visible ( not accessible )

and the error - error reading gnd file header section is presented

3) I have taken my pencil and have written a note about version build 3.7 routes and Transdem ;)

Best regards

Kurt
