Exporting map in imperial measurements

#1 Post by Thai1On »

Is it possible to export a DEM using the imperial measurements of feet and inches?

Internally, both TransDEM and Trainz are completely metric. All TransDEM export has to comply with the Trainz file formats and has to write metric data.

However, you can switch the user interface in TransDEM to imperial for elevations and measured distances (but not for coordinate systems, which - for the projected ones - are all metric by design).

In the TransDEM main menu go to Options | Settings | General and select "Elevations in feet".

Good, but also when I imported a map I made when I went into quick drive in Trainz the scale was in metric. For example, the speed was shown in kph but I want mph a long with distance measured in feet and inches. I know when I create a route in surveyor the first option is to pick imperial or metric. Once a map is imported can it be switched between the two?

None of the Trainz files TransDEM creates carries any information that relates to imperial units. As I said, it's the user interface only.
