Follow-up error - getting map

#1 Post by Seafarer »

Fellas, how do I have to mitigate the following issue?
Transdem may work for 5 minutes and get this error or 5 hours, totally random. But in any case - i'm loosing the job already being done.

Another question - how to speedup the download? It goes quite ok until 15-20% and then the speed drops to an absolute minimum, it takes 5-6 hours to get 600-700 tiles and in any moment the mentioned error can ruin the whole task.
Cheers

Well, you are not actually losing the download. TransDEM always saves the downloaded images and, if or when it aborts, also creates an .lgb file for the downloads so far. So, before you redo the entire path, load that .lgb file, and shorten your path accordingly.

TransDEM has no say in the occurrence of that error, it's a server-side decision, typically triggered by demand and load.

Speeding it up? The bottleneck is the server. It controls download speed. In a different application of mine, based on map tiles and my TransDEM work, I tried paralleling map tile downloads. There was almost no gain.

Thanks Roland,

I assume - reducing the demand might reduce the chance to get this fault...
