Adding a vector to an existing route without overwriting

#1 Post by e60125 »

I know there are quite a few topics on this subject, but I am not sure I understand if there is a way I can export a new vector over a previously made route. I have a route that has tracks laid, gradients I've fixed from the DEM, added grass, and other objects I added but I thought it would be a good idea to add roads next and what better way to do it than automatically (because there are so many). When I go to export the route though, it either says there are inconsistent file names and the route will not show up in the drop down or that I need to overwrite everything. I really don't want to overwrite the work I've done so is there any way I can add a new vector to this route without deleting anything I've done?

You could do such things in the past. However, N3V modified the Trainz route file formats quite drastically with T:ANE SP2 and I never came around to reverse engineer them again. For the earlier versions of Trainz, Auran had provided me with some documentation and I was able to figure out the rest. Unfortunately, since this change one can no longer export an existing Trainz route and add stuff to it in TransDEM.
