Adjusting elevation

#1 Post by Blu3wolf »

So Im running into the no doubt familiar issue of needing to tweak elevation data in surveyor from the DEM provided. This is running into some interesting issues with the UTM tiles though. Specifically, lowering terrain below the tiles causes a significant difference between the shape of the tile and the baseboard.

Is it possible to re-export the tiles, so that they use the shape of the terrain in Trainz the route presently has?

Yes. 3D UTM tiles always take the terrain from the the .gnd file, not from a DEM. And you can recreate them, reusing existing KUIDs.

Is there a tutorial for re exporting into my modified route, so that the existing tiles are overwritten with the new tiles?

I don't think there is. Basically it all happens under the hood. In Content Manager open the modified route Manager for editing. Make sure you select the right one in TransDEM, check the folder name. Then just recreate the UTM tiles. If the previous ones still exist in the scenery folder, TransDEM can reuse their KUIDs. Once TransDEM has completed the export, add the new or overwritten tiles to Content Manager and commit everything.
