Unfortunately, I don't have up-to-date information on Western Australia. They operated some sort of WMS in the past, but it did not provide base data in a scale large enough for our purposes. Hence, I did not put it on the list.

"Geoscience Australia" seems to be up and running (can be found in the WMS configuration list), but it's merely 1:250,000 nominal scale.

You best option is probably one of the Map Tiles services. Did you check what they have to offer for your route project?

Hi sorry for the delay in replying I have tried and registered with Geoscience Australia, and have ordered a dem and other info from them for the route I am attempting but they keep losing my order, that's why I am asking if anybody knows of any other WMS servers.

Sorry I'm posting from my wides iPad at the moment

G'day SteveW1,

If I were tackling the project of which you speak, I would provide my 'route' with the maps supplied FREE from Open Street Maps for the area you want (sparse though they are); the 'official' Geoscience maps are only available at 1:250,000 scale, which is not really suitable for our purposes. The Open Street Map data is not WMS data but can be accessed in TransDEM (in precisely the same manner as WMS maps) via the Map Tile Servers option in the Raster Maps Menu. I would also make use of the 1 arcsec DEM data (again FREE) that is available through ASTER GDEM (details of these maps is available elsewhere in these pages and in the excellent manual provided by our 'illustrious leader')...
