Spambot registration attempts

#1 Post by geophil »

The TransDEM forum is experiencing an increased number of (human) spambot registration attacks which require appropriate counter measures. Unfortunately, these counter measures may lead to inadvertent deletion of proper and legitimate user registrations. So, if your newly registered account does not get activated within reasonable time, please contact me by email.

Heaven knows what these unimaginative, boneheaded attackers believe to gain from a registration in this forum. The main purpose seems to cause disruption or at least annoyance.

One year later another spambot attack. Appropriate countermeasures have been taken. Again, if a proper and legitimate user registration has been affected, please tell me by email. This applies to registrations in the last 24 hours.
