Re: USGS NED DEM Datd
Thanks Roland. I'm going to try this out in an hour or so.
Freaking beareucrats over at the USGS can't leave well enough alone......I would think that geotiff would be an easier file format for downloads.
I was in a temporary snit when I got done fidd  ling with the Server for nearly an hour ...

USGS NED DEM Datd
Roland, the USGS seamless Server has changed itself AGAIN!..........and for the worse, too.
It no longer offers 1/3 arc sec DEM data in GeoTiff formats.
The only formats now offered are Arc Grid and Arc Grid Float.
Any ideas on how to handle this data to get it into TransDEM?

CDP Color maps for Trainz
Is there a place where I can get the CDP's of the color maps required to show raster maps and route tracings (polylines) in Trainz. I want to make route CDP's available to others, who may not own a copy of TransDEM but want the DEM files for a Trainz route. The color maps are required to overlay ...

Re: TransDEM Tutorials-USGS Data
Please note I have added a new tutorial 'Applying Raster Maps to a Route' to the list in my post above. Left click on each tittle to bring up the tutorial. Each one is posted in PDF format for easy downloading.
The next tutorial, on applying a vector route to the georeferenced raster maps will be ...

Re: USGS Seamless Server....agin!
I have dl'd Firefox. Got on the USGS Seemless server with no problem. However, I'd still like to know why I can't access data with IE.

USGS Seamless Server....agin!
I have a new computer with Win7 Home edition. The default browser is IE 64 bit version.
I cannot get the USGS Seamless Server to show the map at startup. I have the popup blocker in IE set to disable. Still get the warning that a popup blocker is enabled.
I see this is not a unique problem. IE has a ...

Re: Making a Route With Abandoned Track
The site I'm using is http://docs.unh.edu/nhtopos/nhtopos.htm . It has only New England and New York state maps. But it does have a link to Maptech historical maps, which cover more states, in the eastern US.
If I find more I'll post here.

Re: Making a Route With Abandoned Track
The WSR maps are fine, no dispute there.
But often you will find, epecially in urban areas, that the roadbed no longer exists. The old yards and maintenance facilities have long ago been turned into 'industrial 'parks' or shopping centers or housing developements. The 'historic' raster maps, will ...
