I am attempting to generate a route which only fits inside the limited potential area for the vector route as a result of sacrificing zoom intensity; a compromise which I cannot entertain as I am relying upon the detail afforded by ortho imagery to model individual tracks which are relatively close together and presently unrecognizable beyond a certain zoom distance.

What would be the most effective method to "split up" this route to rectify this issue? I used the included TransDEM manual as a frame of reference and came across the relatively brief section devoted to merging. Nonetheless, I am still puzzled as to how I would go about dividing my route for this purpose.

I don't quite understand the question. The zoom level in the TransDEM main window ist just the view. Export to Trainz will always use the full resolution of the geo data sources.

Ortho-imagery should go to UTM tiles, like very large scale topo maps, e.g. the historic O/S 6 inch and 25 inch maps, or the German 1:5000 example in the Müngsten tutorial. As ground textures hi-res raster data will come out very blurred.

Nonetheless should should build in modules and use seamless merging in Trainz Surveyor. Seamless merging is made possible by the static mapping of baseboards to UTM coordinates (within the same UTM zone). There should be an illustrated example somewhere here in the forum.

I see. I guess my question is regarding the ability to enhance the depth of the ortho imagery. I’ve found that TransDEM produces images in Trainz that prove to be difficult to analyze (i.e the individual tracks on a strip of double track mainline). Is it possible to achieve this?
