XML error when importing

XML error when importing

Hi all,

I am new to TransDEM. I want a map of the Netherlands and found a few xml files. When I try to import them I get errors.
Can someone look at these and tell me what I am doing wrong?

This is a WMS capabilities file. You would normally get this as a reply when calling a WMS server with the GetCapabilities request. Is that what you did?

I know from past experience that the Dutch WMS implementations were at odds with TransDEM but I never found out what was actually wrong. With WMS the server is often but not always right. The WMS standard has much room for interpretation. So, as a programmer, you really never know.

Yes it seems so. What do I neet to do to get some setting I can start with?

Well, WMS is good only for maps anyway, it cannot deliver DEMs. And for maps, Open Street Map is always my recommendation. If you followed the Map Tile tutorial you will already have used it. For DEMs you can either use SRTM and I'd recommend the latest version 3 here, as shown in the TransDEM manual, or you can look for downloadable DEM files in higher resolution on the Dutch government geo data website. TransDEM can read quite a few different DEM file types but there can always be surprises.

Thanks for the help. I did the tutorials again and used other dem data. Finally it works.
