Try without a space:
http://dds.cr.usgs.gov/srtm/
Works fine here.

The page will take a while to load.

Sorry, I now see what you mean. SRTM only reaches as far as 60° North (and South).
You can try
http://www.viewfinderpanoramas.org/dem3.html#eurasia or/and ASTER (see the TransDEM manual for the ASTER data). Best to get a sample of both and compare.
