Dear Roland and dear forum's users, maybe a stupid question. I'm trying to make a french layout for Trainz, and I've collected a lot of material (photos, station's plans, books), but I dont have any idea on how to connect Transdem to WMS services of french cartographic portal (
http://www.geoportail.gouv.fr).
can anyone help me? Thank's a lot in advance.

The last time I checked (about a year ago), Géoportail was offering so-called WMS-C which looks like WMS but is something slightly different. It uses the WMS request protocol, but will return pre-rendered tiles, similar to a Map Tile service. Regular WMS returns clippings exactly as requested by the given coordinates.
Therefore WMS-C won't work with an integrated WMS client out of the box.

Roland, thank you for the reply. Do you know any other source for french maps?

Oh, you can use Géoportail and all its layers, but via screenshots and 3+1 point georeferencing. In the Géoportail settings I recommend to set the system to Lambert 93 (you must also set this in TransDEM, of course). Activate coordinates (right below the zoom slider). Make your screenshot, paste into TransDEM, create and drag a rectangular mask (save it for future use). Then enter your reference points, taking coordinate picks from the Géoportail view.
