How to import Lidar (.laz) files?

#1 Post by AntonyVW »

Ive downloaded several Lidar (.laz) files from the UK DEFRA site. How do I import that data to Transdem? Does it need to be converted to dem first? If so what software do I neeed to convert it?

That looks like a LIDAR raw data file, presumably a point cloud. This is not compatible with TransDEM. TransDEM requires DTM (DEM) data organized in a matrix. Doesn't DEFRA offer that anymore? I think they did GeoTIFF in the past ("LIDAR Composite DTM"), see viewtopic.php?p=3082#p3082.

Thank you. I had not noticed that there were other options. I have now downloaded and imported what I needed.
