Patch Error 2.4.0.0 -> 2.4.1

#1 Post by RRSignal »

Hi. I tried to patch up to the most current version, form 2.4.0.0 to 2.4.1. The patch seems to run, files appear to copy from source to target, but eventually I get the error below, "Unable to verify patch". This is on XP-32. There are no permission issues (drive is formatted as FAT-32), the path is correct, there is plenty of space, I tried re-downloading the patch, so on and so forth. My TransDEM installation is otherwise in working order and the original, 2.4.0.0 files have been retained even after the patch failure. Any ideas?

I was able to patch my Win7 Pro 64 installation of TransDEM no problem.

I'll have to check what can cause the verification error.

I have looked it up. The verification error will be triggered, if either the file size, the file modification time or the MD5 checksum on the target file do not match the values from the source file, as encoded into the patch file. Did you copy or move the installation files? This may change the modification time.

No, didn't move anything, though it is an upgrade of an old (2.0/2.1, IIRC) installation. Perhaps a fresh install is in order?

That would explain it. This particular patch only works for 2.4.0.0. For other versions, neither file time, size nor checksum will match. Applying the patch to such files would create pure chaos with corrupt files and has to be prevented.
