WMS Saxony

Server addresses of the Saxon WMS have changed end of last year.

The latest TransDEM WMS sample settings have been updated to the current addresses, to be found on my main website on the download page.

WMS North Rhine Westphalia

Server addresses of the NRW WMS have also changed now.

The latest TransDEM WMS sample settings have been updated to the current addresses, to be found on my main website on the download page.

Ortho-photos don't work at the moment. It might be a WMS version conflict. Meta data is pretending to be version 1.3 but the service itself seems to be 1.1.1.

Just out of interest Roland, the map servers for Bayern and Thüringen are rejecting efforts to connect - that includes trying with the latest links from your site. From what I could understand with my limited knowledge of German on the actual Bayern WMS site the link should be the same so not sure what's happening. I couldn't find a link to the Thüringen WMS home page to check their links.

Vern,

Thüringen WMS had been shut down years ago, but apparently has come back now with a new address and new services.
Topo map 1:10k, 1:25k, 1:50k, 1:100k: http://www.geoproxy.geoportal-th.de/geo ... rvices/DTK?
Ortho imagery (2m medium and 20 cm high resolution!): http://www.geoproxy.geoportal-th.de/geo ... rvices/DOP?

Bayern appears to have changed the URL once again.
Topo map 1:50k: http://geodaten.bayern.de/ogc/ogc_dtk50_oa.cgi?
Ortho imagery (2m medium resolution!): http://geodaten.bayern.de/ogc/ogc_dop200_oa.cgi?
(These two have been the only free services ever since the start of WMS in Bavaria.)

All topo maps are digital edition these days, with much less detail than before.

Unfortunately the new Thüringen WMS succeeded only in downloading blank white pages. So in the end I got what I needed from OSM which is actually quite good for Germany and I can use it in conjunction with looking at GE.

White pages instead of an error message usually point to some problem on the server side. WMSs are implemented as multi-tier applications, some without proper error reporting in the communication chain. Anyway, it works for me right now.
