G'day geophil,

...according to all of the information I can gather and my own failed attempts to access the website from any 'angle', it would seem that our 'beloved' MSR Maps (msrmaps.com) has finally been 'removed'. I am unable to find any other suitable alternative at this point in time. Can you shed any light on this, Roland?...

Hi Garry,

officially I think they are finished and down for more than two years now, but the server often still responded. Can't test right now, slow internet connection, slow computer. There used to be the USGS WMS with the same data set, but that also dropped out, I believe. State of the art are the USGS GeoPDFs, it seems, either modern or historic ones, but that's more work, unfortunately.

G'day geophil,

...it may be a little bit more work, Roland but taking up your suggestion, I have found a new 'process' working with the Geopdf files that 'works' for me. I shall continue doing things the 'new' way...

...as an added bonus, the new maps seem to be of a higher pixel resolution, they don't 'look' all that different from their predecessors and the 7.5 Quadrangle downloads seem to match the 1:24,000 scale of the older maps, so I am quite happy...

...thank you...

G'day geophil,

...you know, it occurs to me, Roland ,as I refine my 'procedure', here, that it would be "nice" if there were a Web Mapping Service available for this 'new' data. Is this something you have looked into ona prior occasion?...

Garry,

I don't think there is a WMS for this relatively new resource but I will try to find out after I've returned home.

I am currently in Cambodia, starting with visiting the temples of Angkor Wat tomorrow.
