Viewfinder Panoramas offers DEMs in .hgt format (the same format that SRTM employs).

This data can be seen as a complement to SRTM, particularly as there is no SRTM data north of 60°.

However, the most interesting aspect of Viewfinder Panoramas DEMs is their coverage of the Alps in the 1 arc sec raster (about 20 x 30 m).

Well since it's Europe and all. I am still looking for heightdata from Oslo as Google Earth shows it. They must have acquired it from some source. It's really detailed, and I'd love building an Oslo railway too.
