Hello Geophil,

Thank you for your answer.

1. As the complete Belgian railwayroute didn' t succeed - I started a test by selecting the railway routes in the Province
West-Vlaanderen -

I still have to complete the shp.file - that will be my next task

The test was successfull - Here are some numbers

Trainz Baseboards East-West = 82
# Trainz Baseboards North-South = 102
# Trainz Baseboards total = 8364
# actually created Trainz Baseboards after filtering = 2077

At this time, I don't know if I will also create the Kusttramroute within the Province of West-Vlaanderen. As this route is 65 km long, it could be that Trainz will struggle with the creation of the route.

2. You are absolutely right about OSM - OSM gives a lot of information. I have to do some other tests with OSM.
At htis time, I cannot give you any details ( topographic, scale, etc ... ) about the maps offered by the NGI.
It's possible that I will visit them on 1 June.

After my visit to the NGI - I will send you an email.

Best regards

Kurt

G'day Belgian46,

Kurt, you wrote...

..."...At this time, I don't know if I will also create the Kusttramroute within the Province of West-Vlaanderen. As this route is 65 km long, it could be that Trainz will struggle with the creation of the route..."...

...which prompts me to advise that in the 'many' years experience that I have 'racked-up' using TransDEM, I have found that the length of 'line' after which TransDEM starts to 'baulk' and complain that things are getting too 'much' for it is between 100 and 120 Kilometers. You should be able to fit the entire Kusttramroute into a single 'module' without too much difficulty (you might run into 'trouble' if it traverses more than one UTM Zone - despite TransDEM's ability to 'overcome' such issues)...
