I see. I have found https://geoservices.ign.fr/services-web-experts-ortho now.

The result of GetCapabilities says that jpeg and png are supported. However, I also get only white images. To test, I manually composed an URL from their inspire example and that worked:

https://wxs.ign.fr/ortho/geoportail/r/w ... HEIGHT=256

I will have to investigate what TransDEM does differently. That will take some time.

Ok. Scale in TransDEM will be translated into a bounding box for the WMS URL. It means that both scale and image pixel size could play a role here.

After a bit of playing around, I found these settings to work for me:
Code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="iso-8859-1" ?>

<WmsServers version="1.0" globalScaleParam="10000.000000" >
  <ServerGroup name="France" >
    <Server name="IGN France Ortho" url="https://wxs.ign.fr/ortho/geoportail/r/wms" url2="" user="" referer="" width="2000" height="2000" noBBox="0" background="0" transparent="0" prefVers="0" ignSvrSRS="0" >
      <Layer name="HR.ORTHOIMAGERY.ORTHOPHOTOS" scale="0.070711" />
      <Layer name="ORTHOIMAGERY.ORTHOPHOTOS" scale="0.091924" />
      <Layer name="ORTHOIMAGERY.ORTHOPHOTOS.BDORTHO" scale="0.212132" />
      <Layer name="ORTHOIMAGERY.ORTHOPHOTOS.IRC" scale="0.091924" />
    </Server>
  </ServerGroup>
</WmsServers>

I only tested the 20cm and the 50cm layers. Image size 2000 x 2000 px seems OK. Coordinate system RGF93.

This seems to be a combination of raster and vector data, similar to OpenRailwayMap, but including realtime data. Not compatible with TransDEM, I'm afraid.
