I utilise this site for access to Yorkshire railway maps 1:25000, have a link set up in my browser.
I had suspicions yesterday that something was changing, now my link does not provide the drop down boxes so that I am unable to select the 1905 Yorkshire mapping.
Fortunately I am in possession of Line Diagrams for the routes that I am working on, it has been under construction since TRS2004 version.
I can only assume that the site now does not provide access to non registered users for all their content.
What is the alternative and could the mapping Provider list be updated.

I am not sure what exactly you are asking.

Some of the maps on offer by the NLS can or could be accessed via the TransDEM map tile client. However, that changes over time and for some, access is no longer possible.

The 1:25000 from the 1950s still seems to work, so do the very large scale 25 inch maps from around 1900. 6 inch apparently has changed the server and now uses a key. I don't know whether that key is session based or permanent. So 6 inch may work or it may not.

This is the setting for the 1:25000 and for the 6 inch where 1:25000 is still the same as in the 2018 sample settings.

As always, copy/paste to a text editor, save as xml file and import with the TransDEM map tile client.

Hi,

I haven't used TransDEM for a few of years (I have 2.6.3.0) but having lost a route I created due to a corrupt file, I was considering creating a new DEM. I notice that 50cm LIDAR data is available for the area I'm interested in via the National Library of Scotland page, hence me posting on this thread, and I'm wondering if TransDEM is capable of using that? I seem to recall TransDEM 2.6.3 being able to utilise 2m LIDAR data but the data I needed wasn't available for my area at the time.

The NLS renders the DEM as a shaded raster map and delivers the rendered image. That's of not much use to TransDEM. For TransDEM we need the original DEM data which should be available from some Scottish government web site.

But it's complicated in the UK with geo data sources. Every one of the four nations is doing her own thing, England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, and there appears to be even more than one agency per nation. I admit, I have lost track. I always thought, it's complicated here in Germany with our federal system and the federal states in charge of official cartography, but the UK is even worse :? .

That's very interesting Roland. As it happens, another Trainz user sent me the following link https://remotesensingdata.gov.scot/data#/map which would appear to provide LIDAR data in dtm format. Am I correct in thinking that would work in TransDEM?

Just checked a sample. Yes, these should work. Go for DTM = digital terrain model.
