Hello all;

I have an old Route, previously created via TransDEM many years ago, and I would love to paint the surrounding landscape with Ground Textures, based on the local orthophotos. How can I achieve this?

The route is the infamous Tua Line (Linha do Tua) in Portugal, and its initial stretch is in a mountainous area. All I have edited is its first 4km, so a last case scenario I can think of is to erase every single baseboard (the entire route has 134km...) except for those where these first 4km are, create a new one in TransDEM, and then merge it. Quoting a famous meme that is running around now, that would be "Not great, not terrible".

Thanks;

DC

Merging two routes is the only option here, I think.

  1. Recreate the entire route in TransDEM, select custom ground textures (pick the predefined 128 color set), load and apply ortho-imagery as ground textures.
  2. Import the new route with Content Manager. In Surveyor, remove all the baseboards from the new route that you want to keep from the original route.
  3. In Surveyor, merge the two routes

I probably mentioned it before, I was lucky to travel the line from Tua to Mirandela in the early 2000s, by railcar. The section above Mirandela was already closed, and Mirandela itself offered a few additional local railcar services, titled "Metro".
