I can't really comment on the instructions in a 3rd party tutorial. I am sure it this written with the best intention. What I can do is to point you to the official documentation, the two TransDEM user manuals. You have already worked through tutorial #7 in the the TransDEM main manual.

The other one, the TransDEM Trainz manual, has a chapter called "Quick Start Guide", from page 12. You may have looked at it, but probably not gone through it. Follow those steps. Step 2 in "Preparation" will take you to the "Muengsten" tutorial (page 56) which explains the export of a route to Trainz, with all elementary steps, using prefabricated data. Try to get this working for you. Once you have success there, you will find it much easier to apply the steps to your own route.

Take a break, do something else for a day or two. Once you feel relaxed and can concentrate again, do the "Muengsten" tutorial. It tells you the final step of the process, getting a geodata-based route into Trainz. You already succeeded with the Map Tile tutorial, "Muengsten" isn't any more difficult.

I started over with a smaller portion of the route and I did it. I have a question. I attached a photo of the route (I hope I did that right it's the first time for that also). As you can see the foreground is the grid and in the distance it is white and you can see the pink UTM grid and purple is the tracks, this stays this way as I move around. I can't get close to the features. Is it because I used Open Street Map? Shouldn't the color markers be better than this? I am going to try Geograph map and see how that comes out. thanks Br0563718

I found out what the problem is. I was missing some of your ground textures. I need 5 more, they say they are payware. They are 126773:21000 , 21002 , 21008 , 21010 , 21018. Can you tell me how I can obtain them. Agine I want to thank you for your help and time. Br0563718

That's simple. The TransDEM ground textures are provided with the TransDEM installation package, as a .cdp file. You must, however, explicitly import them with Trainz Content Manager.

The TransDEM Trainz manual has the instructions, on page 14. The manual will point out this necessary step in various other chapters, too. Don't worry, forgetting to import the textures is by far the most frequently made beginner mistake among TransDEM users. 8-)

During the preparation phase of TS12, Auran/N3V added a community-made route to the TS12 package. That route was based on TransDEM, and the route builder had not removed any TransDEM ground texture residue before loading it up. Since then, some of the textures have involuntarily become Trainz built-in content, to confuse new TransDEM users.
