Post subject:  Issue with junctions

Hello everybody,

With the map tile servers provider google maps I created a route with the simple route editor.

I had some difficulties when junctions were present along the track.

I created a new map and created tracks plines from vector data.

I also tried the junction levers option.

The result is visible in the picture herunder

As you can see no junctions were created.

Has anyone ever had the same issue and if you did what solution did you use?

How did you use the displacement options longitudinal and lateral.

Thank you

Best regards

Kurt

Kurt,

the junction create mechanism in TransDEM is a heuristic one. Since the underlying geometric type "polyline" in TransDEM only understands end and middle nodes with one or two connections, TransDEM uses proximity measurement to decide whjer to place a junction or not when creating Trainz track splines.

So, to prepare for a junction, put one point onto the through track where the diverging track is supposed to start or end. And make sure that the start or end point of the diverging polyline is really close to the point on the main track.

Hello Roland,

Thank you for your swift reply :D .

I will have to work more punctial when junctions are present, however doing this is not so easy to do ;).

I will have to do some experiments.

Best regards

Kurt

Hello Roland,

Is it possible to receive some information about the correct use of the displacement options longitudinal and lateral. :?

As default longitudinal is 8,00m lateral 2,00 m.

What is the impact of those settings on the main railtrack and the junctions? :?

Thank you

Best regards

Kurt

Post subject:  Re: Issue with junctions

The displacement values determine the position of the junction lever / motor drive.

From the manual:
"Displacement: Position of the junction lever relative to the spline control point of the junction. Longitudinal is along the track towards the crossing/frog, lateral is sideways."
