Use of OSGrid data and historic maps

#1 Post by HotshotJimmy »

Good afternoon all,

So I navigated the tutorials pretty well and have a fairly rough idea of what everything does. I even was able to practice mapping out the Nidd Valley and light railway using the default height data. Then I noticed that in the manual it added at the end that OS data can be used which would probably give a better look to the terrain and a little bit more detail. The problem is i'm not sure how this works. I downloaded the data but it creates the data as XML but i'm not sure how that works with DEM or what i'm missing trying to get it to work. Also I wasn't able to understand how to make the maps 3D when I tried it out so I ended up with the blurry map which isn't really great but at least it is something. Any help would be greatly appreciated :D

Kind regards,

James
