The site I'm using is http://docs.unh.edu/nhtopos/nhtopos.htm . It has only New England and New York state maps. But it does have a link to Maptech historical maps, which cover more states, in the eastern US.
If I find more I'll post here.

G'day steamboateng,

Yep, that's exactly my problem. There are plenty of historical maps available for that side of the country but the routes I am working on at the moment cover the former Narrow Gauge rails in Nevada, way over on the other side of the continent (well, almost) and there is 'niente' (as they might say in them parts) in the way of historical offerings that cover these lines. Oh well, where did I put that cap?...
