Thank you SharkNose, it worked!

I started doing the tutorial, but using the area I'm trying to make. I started doing the tutorial, I but I only got this far:

It seems that it won't let me "get map" or give me any coordinates...... Is anything wrong with this?

Are there any alternative forms of vector data, other than the National Map Viewer, and making your own?

SharkNose, yes, you were right, the file is only 100 bytes, I did try the roadfeature, and it worked. I tried all of the shapefiles, but it was the only one that opened. My question is, is it only roads?

I have tried it multiple times with the same reply.

The shapefile zip is 29.3 MB.

I'm doing the Northwest Ohio area btw.

Here is the problem I'm having...
I download the zip file they give me after for the shapefiles from the National Map Viewer "Transportation" tab as shown here:

And then when I install any of these, I get this error:

I have spent some time searching, and can't find any vectors for the US....
Any help is much appreciated!

Thank you for the quick reply! I was wondering if instead of using vector data, could you use Google Earth in the way that this tutorial shows? (The tutorial is a pdf in the zip file at the bottom of the page): http://www.dhobh.net/trainz/TransDEM/GroundTextures.htm
