Ive downloaded several Lidar (.laz) files from the UK DEFRA site. How do I import that data to Transdem? Does it need to be converted to dem first? If so what software do I neeed to convert it?

I've just discovered that Barrow-in-Furness Borough Council (UK) have a WMS up and running. Access is free though Im not sure if it could be imported into Transdem as I haven't attempted that.
