While reading all I could on creating a route with HOG on Trainz TS12, one of the threads was someone that created a route with HOG as I did. When they first started the route all they had was air. the only thing to look at was the compass indicator. They just updated TS12 with SP1. I remember that they said they had to update something else to get the route to show up. I have the same problem, I am running TS12 Build 49922 and I just updated a week ago. I sure wise I could remember, I read a lot getting ready to create the route "Great Northern Electric" Over Stevens Pass in the 1880's before the 2 tunnels. Help Thanks funnnyfarm

The MicroDEM/HOG/TIGER approach has a few pitfalls. I admit, I never completed a single example myself. I found it too complicated, too error-prone. Instead, I created TransDEM.

Therefore, I can only give general advice here. Most people recommend Wewain's tutorial. It's ten years old and a few things will have changed, but the overall concept should still work.

Agree better off using Transdem where you can import the US topo maps directly.

With regard to Stevens Pass/Cascade, I was looking at this area myself recently as doing a route based on all three routes over the pass would prove interesting. However there is not a vast amount of information on the original alignment with the zigzags and, while the US topo maps show the western approach to and alignment of the original (apparently now flooded) tunnel, there is nothing at the east end to indicate the course back down to the current roadbed.
